Hm ... it doesn't say a thing about customizing your colors. Even MS Paint does that to a point. :(

I'm learning to use a free paint tool called Gimp. It is amazing what this thing can do. Bump mapping, logos, embossing, filters, plasma effects, lighting effects and bezier curves are just some of the things you can do.

Don't know Gimp much, but from little time I spend with it - hate it.
But it's one of the popular pixel and graphics art program among 2D artists.

I tried out another art program called something like "Deluxe Paint". It was okay, I guess. What I was really wanting was Neopaint For Windows, but without all the program crashes, bugs, and clumsy GUI design.

How exactly you'll feel about Deluxe Paint will depend on what you want in your art programs. There are just some key features missing from Deluxe Paint that make NeoPaint so important to me.

I do have a copy of Paint Shop Pro lying around someplace, and it actually does everything I need it to do. But I haven't tried starting it up since I started using this machine, and had started being tortured by Windows 7. I really ought to get back to PSP again sometime. :(

I did try Paint Shop Pro. It didn't really do what I needed it to.

At the end - what matters is how good you're with the tools you use, how well you know it and know to bring the most of it.
Really...for me - no better tool than classic Ms-Paint.
You gotta see how fast I work with it..it's magic :)

Deluxe paint was an early solution for graphic designers but also one of the best.

I highly suggest you look into Adobe imageready. Such features in the program are now standard in Photoshop, but what this program was is a separate program dedicated to web graphics. It is great for making quick variants of images and is well suited for working with 256 color palettes.

I have two versions I can upload in ISO format if anyone wants to try it out.

I - for one - would be interested in trying it out. :)
