I think Wolf3D has a built-in range for enemies? When you're very far away from enemies, they don't seem to attack you.
I did use a lot of these kind of tactics to make things easier for me. For example, again, I used a blocking door strat in level 26. (The video hasn't been published yet)

I like how this mod gradually introduces features. I think this may be our most balanced mod.

    Yes, it might be.

But now in retrospective I do notice things I like less.

Weapon aim-loss is was too fast (sure for harder skills) and is more directly annoying than being realistic or balancing weapon-wise. You can't deal with it was more than 1-2 enemies, which is weird for such a weapon.

MG42 "fights" are a bit too long and repeatative, you just sit and shoot for too long. Boring to watch, I only assume it's boring to play too.

    Headshots are too unrealistic...

These were fine to play actually. It's more that MG42 fights in general aren't the most dynamic moments of a game. I guess they work best when you're on a moving vehicle. But in general they're static set pieces. Fun to mow a lot of guards down, but that's about it.

I thought it was quite fun to score headshots in this one. :D Not everything needs to be super realistic to be enjoyable.

I also really like the headshot animation in this one. Realistic? No, I guess not. But fun? Extremely so. :)

Well, wouldn't originally made it if it didn't look fun to me :)
Even in "Blade of Agony" - it was my initiative to add headshots "at the last moment".
I love gibs, gore, and such animations and features, I'm also big "Brutal Doom" fan.

So all is fine. But even back then it was looking a bit too....toony to me :)

Yes, even commented yesterday on the video.
One of the best levels, that is challenging even on "100%" video expert attempts.

...he didn't know btw that cyringe can't pass from level to level so it made the video even more "stressful" - in a good way IMO.

It was the perfect way to bring in Mecha. I remember it fondly.
