I keep playing it alot, and enjoy it much....the is sooo great....mapping, enemies, gibs....
This is as perfect as Doom can be while maintaining relatively classic look and feel.

Brutal Doom gets better with each release. It's further enhanced if you play the right map set. I felt eerily satisfied when I discovered you can point the chainsaw down at your deceased foe and literally cut everything up into little bits. Hungry for salsa anyone?

It may be too bloody for some people but the bright red blood combined with the antiquated doom engine makes it seem more like cartoon violence. The gore and weapon changes make Doom play entirely different. Anyone who loves a good FPS should give it a chance.

Yeah, I totally agree :)

Didn't know about the chainsaw thing. But I don't play with a mouse at all.
This made "Brutal Doom" much more challenging for me BTW. I had to be on the same level of the enemy to shoot.

I thought this might be interesting for some of you. Its John Romero playing coop Doom with commentary. The special occasion is Doom's 20 year anniversary.

Thanks for sharing! I always love those designer commentaries, very interesting to see their creative proces and why they made certain choices on a map.

You're welcome! In this video you can see how influential the maps were to the game's design. John Romero was a programmer too and coded in new game play features whilst working on the maps.

This is like the Doom version of John Carmack's Wolfenstein 3D commentary video. I like this one better, since they're playing coop mode and having fun at the same time.

Version 2.0 is...wow...This is so inspiring and overwhelming. The resolution of details they go to...amazing. And the skill level needed...I die on easiest skill.

Enemy reloading is implemented great and adds much to the tension, every firefight is a duel who draws first... Love the animated bloodpools, the classic gamemode, and all the new stuff....great weapon animations and designs, really professional...all the flyback of guards, things now look like they actually lay on the floor, or float with shadow...
So many new animations...

Don't seem to get the brutal endings...is it a menu option?

Hey man I'm playing this too! :D

I played Ep 1-4 and Doom 2 2x over, 2nd time on hardest skill (the skill before realism mode). Its a freaking amazing mod. 8)

Did you get the music remixes as well? You really must get them - DoomMetalVol4.

Its even supported on Linux and works beautifully on my system. Many many hours of entertainment I'm getting from this mod. I even limit myself to one save per map for extreme challenge.

So many details in this mod...water splash on walls, all the fire animation with rolling in the ground...
Grenades...do you know you can assign keys to roll left or right? Very helpful.
Love how weapons jump off guards in the air...

Man I'd love to make some animation for this mod, if they'd only accept.

I love they limited berserk killing only to berserk mode, before this it was just "too easy" and too frequent, it ruined the fun.

It doesn't surprise me this mod took 5 years to develop. What an incredible work.

Do you have a new favourite weapon now? The chain gun is a beast of a weapon now. I love those grenades too. You can do unspeakable things to those demons with a timed grenade and rocket. Clear a whole room instantly. The double barrel is even better than it was before. The dual wielded plasma rifles are bad ass. :)
