You're welcome! In this video you can see how influential the maps were to the game's design. John Romero was a programmer too and coded in new game play features whilst working on the maps.

This is like the Doom version of John Carmack's Wolfenstein 3D commentary video. I like this one better, since they're playing coop mode and having fun at the same time.

Version 2.0 is...wow...This is so inspiring and overwhelming. The resolution of details they go to...amazing. And the skill level needed...I die on easiest skill.

Enemy reloading is implemented great and adds much to the tension, every firefight is a duel who draws first... Love the animated bloodpools, the classic gamemode, and all the new stuff....great weapon animations and designs, really professional...all the flyback of guards, things now look like they actually lay on the floor, or float with shadow...
    So many new animations...

Don't seem to get the brutal endings...is it a menu option?

Hey man I'm playing this too! :D

I played Ep 1-4 and Doom 2 2x over, 2nd time on hardest skill (the skill before realism mode). Its a freaking amazing mod. 8)

Did you get the music remixes as well? You really must get them - DoomMetalVol4.

Its even supported on Linux and works beautifully on my system. Many many hours of entertainment I'm getting from this mod. I even limit myself to one save per map for extreme challenge.

So many details in this mod...water splash on walls, all the fire animation with rolling in the ground...
Grenades...do you know you can assign keys to roll left or right? Very helpful.
Love how weapons jump off guards in the air...

Man I'd love to make some animation for this mod, if they'd only accept.

I love they limited berserk killing only to berserk mode, before this it was just "too easy" and too frequent, it ruined the fun.

It doesn't surprise me this mod took 5 years to develop. What an incredible work.

Do you have a new favourite weapon now? The chain gun is a beast of a weapon now. I love those grenades too. You can do unspeakable things to those demons with a timed grenade and rocket. Clear a whole room instantly. The double barrel is even better than it was before. The dual wielded plasma rifles are bad ass. :)

    Hard to pick the favourite.

I love the ability to play with other monster weapons.
But for me still, nothing like the normal shotgun. I use it most of the time. Full satisfaction, throwback, gibbing, not overgibbing but it a few gradual phases sometimes which is fun...to kill one monster more than once.

I just beat map 10 of Doom 2 on hardest skill without saving. I was as low at 5% health for most of the map! I'm exhausted now. :D

I wrote the author yesterday on moddb offering my help for the mod.
Just anything to contribute...will be an honor.

Is it wrong for me to say I still like Brutal Doom even more so than the newest Doom game? Everything just feels so right... :)

    No it isn't.

But "Ultimate" Doom form is "Project Brutality", whole other level really to normal "Brutal Doom". It's "Brutal Doom of Brutal Doom". Scary, fast, challenging and aggressive enemies, extended cool and well-balanced weapon set, tons of new enemy variants......
    http://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom/addons/project-brutality
I play latest "next to release" version that can be found on their forum.

After playing "Project Brutality" I don't play "Brutal Doom" anymore...it looks as boring and slow now as "Brutal Doom" versus original Doom.
Biggest challenge Doomer can have (even on lower skills), something that makes the heart pump hard.

Well, there are 3 levels of brutal - Brutal, Brutality and Brutality Black edition, each one is previous one on steroids :)

Didn't play the Black Edition as I couldn't get it to load.
I play Brutality mostly, and Brutal.

Recently tried to play Brutality on hardest difficulty. For a guy who plays games on lowerst it was a challenge.
Chosen episode 1 as I know it the best, the secrets, layouts etc.
First level was quite easy when you know the 200% armor secret. Level 2 was already quite a challenge with alot of reloads.
Noticed that in such difficulty, secondary aiming (I never use in lowerst difficulty) is quite useful to increase accuracy, as you don't have time to spare in rooms of enemies for extra shots.
