I'm only checking the entries each year to have fun about bad music videos or songs =D
Terrible contest, terrible winner and terrible songs in my opinion. This year didn't even have hilarious entries and the only half non-sappy and okaayish ones were NL and HU. All rest seemed boring, bland and overproduced without any backbone of their countries or trying hard to send a message. Also with all the playback and autotune i'm not sure what kind of contest it's anyways lol

Well, you're entitled to your opinion obviously :)

I think it's a great fun song with a message.

But in general, too many gimmicks in the contests, fire etc...loving pairs etc...each selling their love stories...for me love is something intimite and private.

Didn't know they use auto-tune

Fair point. Some people like it, some don't :D

For me the lyrics of this song are terrible and i especially dislike the modern pseudo-feminist message of it.
Having producers + songwriters from different countries and having most songs on english just to reach wider audience instead of representing own country with culture makes it not any better.
So I see this fake contest as pure comedy and the comedy was on a low this year ^^

Well, culture is much more than language this song is written at, there is still alot to different cultures in the show embedded in those songs and performers...and still it's part of creating shared Big World of cultures, having common language is helpful too.
I listened to the songs that were in foreign languages and (beside romantic-sounding french (aka "langauge of love" }8% ) or italian that are nice even without understanding words), it's quite boring and frustrating to listen to song (in most languages) you don't understand lyrics from. I was sitting frustrated at those songs, I do prefer english and wished more songs had more in english. Lyrics is big part of a song.
...Or in russian, at least a language I can understand lyrics from :)

Not all languages sound equally appealing too.
